Standing Up To Data Centers

I don’t know about you, but I don’t need The Terminator happening in my backyard and I don’t think you do either. Giant corporations and their billionaire owners do not get to poison our water, ramp our electric bills, and wreck the natural beauty of our community so they can reap profits and leave us in the dust. And they certainly don’t get to operate with impunity that threatens our privacy and our children’s well-being. Time to unplug.

What we need to do:

  1. Make Them Pay Their Way: End the tax break for massive data centers and stop them from draining our drinking water.
  2. Put Guardrails on Big Tech: Require real community benefits and require AI systems to loop in a real human when someone's in danger.

How we do it:

  1. Make Them Pay Their Way: Repeal the sales tax exemption for 100MW+ data centers; require reclaimed/non-potable cooling water with hard caps and public quarterly disclosure.
  2. Put Guardrails on Big Tech: Require binding community benefit agreements for any data center seeking special tax or zoning treatment and a full ban until this happens; require AI systems marketed to Florida consumers to mandatorily flag self-harm or violence content to a human reviewer or face serious consequences.
