Over half of Floridians are struggling with a medical bill that is putting life as they know it at risk; 1 in 4 adults here are buried under medical debt, and almost TEN MILLION have gone at least a year without medication or necessary procedures due to the affordability crisis. It is embarrassing and unacceptable that in a state where college presidents are millionaires, you and I are choosing between groceries and our children having all their teeth. Your needs deserve to be met, and you deserve to have FULL autonomy over your body and your health. Cut the nonsense, and start taking care of our neighbors.
What we need to do:
- Abortion Is Healthcare, Full Stop: Repeal the six-week abortion ban and write the right to abortion straight into Florida law.
- Healthcare Everyone Can Afford: Expand Medicaid, cushion the coming premium spike, and fix the funding gap hurting kids' mental health care.
How we do it:
- Abortion Is Healthcare, Full Stop: Repeal SB 300/HB 7 (2023); file a joint resolution for a renewed constitutional amendment and a statutory Right to Reproductive Freedom Act (the path Minnesota, New Mexico, and Oregon used in 2023).
- Healthcare Everyone Can Afford: Expand Medicaid by statute (no constitutional amendment required); create a state bridge fund for the ACA subsidy cliff; bring school-based Medicaid billing into federal compliance (recovering ~$200M/year).
